A unique piece of history.
In November 1990 the Norwegian black metal band MAYHEM played three concerts in the former GDR. By chance a recording was made in the Eiskeller Leipzig, which would actually be nothing special if two band members hadn’t died within the next three years and MAYHEM was at the center of a development that gave Norwegian Black Metal a dreaded face. Abo Alsleben organized the three concerts and accompanied the band on their tour. He got to know Dead and Euronymous personally and in this book he tells how the tour came about and what happened.
Only death is real …?
In his book “MAYHEM live in Leipzig – How I brought Black Metal to East Germany” , Abo Alsleben gives a unique insight into the alternative music scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. His authentic narrative style is complemented by the first facsimile print of the letters from MAYHEM guitarist Euronymous to the Leipziger and previously unpublished images.
